Questions
What size skateboard deck should I get?
Start with your shoe size. CCS pairs a US men's 8 to 9.5 with an 8.0 inch deck and a men's 9.5 to 11 with 8.25 inches. Skate Warehouse's height table gives 7.75 to 8.0 inches for riders 5'3" to 5'8" and 8.0 to 8.25 inches for 5'8" to 6'0". Then adjust for the kind of skating you do.
What deck width is best for street skating?
Skate Warehouse says street decks are commonly 7.5 to 8.25 inches wide, with 8.25 inches the most popular. Warehouse Skateboards gives 7.5 to 8 inches as standard for adults skating street or technical tricks.
What deck width for a kid?
Neither Skate Warehouse nor Warehouse Skateboards lists widths for children. CCS's smallest listing is a 7.0 inch deck for a US men's shoe size 5 and smaller (women's 6.5 and smaller). Warehouse Skateboards says most teen and adult riders will want at least 7.5 inches.
What truck width goes with my deck?
Tactics says truck width should closely match deck width, usually within about a quarter inch for standard decks, and that your wheels should not be visible when you look down at the board. Its table is further down this page.
